Una flor que crece
en medio del camino de piedras, y desde allí nos regala una
luz de esperanza.

Una roca en medio
del vendaval, que sube en nuestra búsqueda como enredadera
de suaves notas y rizos que se enroscan en las grietas del alma para alumbrarla
con el calor de sus palabras. Una poeta bendecida con el humor tristón
de los payasos, la ironía canyengue de los tangos, la
lealtad del girasol que gira desparramando comprensión
a flor de piel. Un ser sutil que se fortifica detrás de una
sonrisa franca para encubrir un espíritu generoso y un tesón
a prueba de titanes. Un artífice de la imaginación
que se prodiga en aventuras casi imposibles hechas realidad solo gracias
a su férrea voluntad.

Diosa de los atardeceres,
convertida en pájaro que nos despierta al amanecer.
_
Una pensaría
que no es una sino muchas mujeres, y de una cierta manera, lo es.
Pues Nela Rio es así de única, persona que arrebata
al verbo lo mejor de sus substancias. Que desgrana el amor con ritmo
de milonga entre colegas, amigos y amigas, que nos sentimos
siempre como sus hermanas y hermanos. Listas y listos a responder
a sus retos, empoderándonos en el proceso de reciprocar y
seguirla en su vuelo. Que nos quede de ti la ternura para siempre
bajo la piel.

The_XLVIIth
Congress of the Canadian Association of Hispanists_will
be held in Fredericton (New Brunswick, Canada): i.e., in the place and
residence of the tireless founder of the_Creative
Register_and
creator of many other_past,
present and future projects._She
is as well an outstanding_poet,
narrator, and visual artist._The
occasion was too obvious to be missed.

CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS:

Members
of the Creative Register_are
welcome to participate, as well as_any
other poet or artist who is not affiliated.
_

THEMES for
POETRY AND ART: A poem or piece of art inspired by reading a poem by Nela,
by admiring her work as an artist or by reflecting on any of her many projects
on Hispano-Canadian literature and poetry.
_
POETS: All
correspondence will be via email.
_
Send only
ONE poem, it must not exceed 30 lines (counting the white lines; this is
essential for the preparation of the poster poems; Poems that do not meet
this criteria will not be accepted). Please include a short biography,
of no more than 150 words.
_
Send the poem
and biography by email in the SAME attachment. In the Subject line of the
Email please write: "Tribute to Nela Rio, poem". Direct the email to Sophie

CC to Toni Giménez_(gimenez@alcor.concordia.ca).

ARTISTS: All

will be via email. Send only ONE digital collage or the digitalized image
of any other visual art by email. Size: 150–300 dpi 2. Image extension:

biography, of no more than 150 words.

TYPES OF EXHIBITION:
2. Virtual
exhibition: It will be composed of the poem and images submitted via
email, and they will be published in the_Creative
Register’s Virtual Gallery_of
Poetry and Art, to be launched during the Congress, at the same time as
the Mural Exposition of the Poster Poems.
_
As soon as
the Website for the SEVENTH MURAL AND VIRTUAL ART AND POETRY EXPO, 2011,
dedicated to Nela Rio, is uploaded, the URL for the website will be
sent to participants.
