position, Assistant Professor of Spanish, specializing in Peninsular Spanish
Literature and Culture._The
ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Peninsular Spanish Literature and
Culture, or be near completion, have an excellent record in teaching, have
a well-developed research program for the next 5 years, be able to teach
Spanish language classes, in addition to being able to teach in our Department
courses in English. In addition to teaching undergraduate language and
literature courses, the ideal candidate will be able to join the Yeates
School of Graduate Studies in order to become involved in one of the Faculty
of Arts' graduate programs, such as the M.A. in Immigration and Settlement
Studies and the M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication and Culture. Finally, in
anticipation of the development and launch of the Department?s new undergraduate
options, the candidate will have an ability to work collaboratively on
curriculum development and to teach in these programs. Subject to final

American Literature and Culture. The successful candidate will be expected
to contribute to the teaching of Spanish at all undergraduate levels. Experience
teaching Spanish literature, culture and civilization is an asset. Extensive
experience teaching language courses at all levels using Information Technology
is preferred. Native or near native fluency and a firm commitment to teaching
excellence are required, as is an on-going agenda for research and publication.

appointment with the possibility of renewal for one or two additional years
based on performance and the needs of the college._We
are seeking for candidates in the field of Chicano/Latino literature with
a strong interest and experience in teaching Spanish to Heritage speakers.
Native or near native fluency in Spanish and English are expected. Training
and experience in technology-enhanced language learning are desirable.
We seek and support demonstrated commitment to scholarship as well as clear
enthusiasm for teaching undergraduates in both departmental and general
education courses. Duties will include sharing responsibility for all levels
of Spanish language courses. Teaching load: Three four credit courses per
semester. Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Candidates should demonstrate an ability to combine teaching excellence
with scholarly or other appropriate professional activity and should be
committed to the character and goals of a liberal arts college with a Christian
perspective. Ph.D. in hand by August 2012.
