La Paleta is set in orange and lemon groves just a ten minute walk from the centre of Altea, in the province of Alicante on the Mediterranean coast. 

Apart from being a beautiful town on the sea, Altea has a strong arts connection.  It is home to the Fine Arts Faculty of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche and to the head offices of the International Federation for Choral Music, part of Unesco's International Music Center.  The IFCM's site has a fairly nice view of the town and its bay.
