ALLE-ISLC WEB WORKSHOPS FOR
LANGUAGE TEACHERS
SPRING 2000

The Alberta Language Learning Environment (ALLE) Project at the University of Calgary, the Intercultural and Second Languages Council (ISLC) of the ATA, in collaboration with the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) and the Calgary Separate School Board (CRCSSD1) are pleased to offer three free workshops for language teachers in April 2000.

The World Wide Web is a wonderful storehouse of resources and information for the language teacher. More and more it is becoming an integral part of our professional life, whether we ask students to do research or undertake tasks and projects, or use it ourselves to find authentic materials, publish our own page, research topics, check government sites, or communicate with colleagues.

Three different workshops are being offered.

The WEB Resources Workshop is designed for anyone, either with or without computer skills, who would like to see some of the possibilities of the Web for language teaching. The workshop includes an informative booklet and lists of useful language learning resources on the Web. PC platform will be used.

Using the Web is a hands-on workshop to develop basic skills necessary to use the World Wide Web. The workshop includes a diskette and booklet with step-by-step instructions for the various skills.

Tasks and Projects on the Web is a hands-on workshop that will get you working on actual tasks and projects for your class.
