What you need...
Most of the applications suggested for evaluation in this site are
self-extracting zip files. You need the WinZip shareware to extract
these files. Evaluation versions of WinZip 6.3 for Windows 95/98/NT
as well as for Windows 3.1 can be downloaded from WinZip's home
page at
http://www.winzip.com/download.cgi
for you to try out. Without WinZip you will be unable to install
certain files you would like to download from this site onto your
computer. If you do not wish to leave the ALLE site, you can download
a pre-released beta test version of WinZip 32 for Windows 95 by
clicking
here.
Downloading zip files...
When you click on a link leading to a zip file, you will be prompted
to save the file. Simply save the file into an empty or temporary
directory. Remember to take note of the directory in which you
save it as well as the file name. Once this file is saved, run
it. To run a file in Windows95, double click on the file through
Windows Explorer or My Computer. In Windows 3.1, double click
on the file through Program Manager.
| WinZip will extract the zip file and create several
files from the zip file, including the setup file. If this
does not occur automatically, click on the Extract button
within WinZip. Take note of where you save the file so that
you are aware of its location when you go to run it. |

Installation...
Run the setup file, usually setup.exe, to install the program
on your computer. To run it in Windows95, double click on the
setup file through Windows Explorer or My Computer. In Windows
3.1, double click on the file through Program Manager. Follow
the installation instructions carefully.
Through installation, a program group is usually added to
Program Manager in Windows 3.1; if you are running Windows
95, a shortcut is usually added to the Start menu.
Please ask someone for help if you do not understand how to
download a zip file or how to obtain WinZip.
