Why
Use the Web?
The Web is becoming an integral part of the educational
scene. But it is particularly important for second language learning.
Here are a few reasons:

there is an incredible amount of resource material
-
material is current
-
resources are authentic - text, audio, video, and images
-
hyperlinks and keyboard input provide interaction
-
students are motivated and self directed
-
screens are pleasant and varied
-
the learning environment is realistic
it allows for a unique celebration of student work.

Disadvantages
of the Web
Despite its amazing possibilities,
the Web is not without its disadvantages. Here are a few to beware
of:
-
sites may disappear from one day to
the next
-
many sites are poorly done
-
you can get lost or confused by following
too many links
-
accessing some sites can be very slow
or they might not work at all
-
you can waste a lot of time searching
for something
-
copyright is a not a simple issue
