Option 1: Language Assistant with the Université de Bourgogne.

The Department of French, Italian and Spanish has issued a CALL for APPLICATIONS for TWO English Language Assistants,  located in France during the next academic year (September to June). The positions are available to students who are presently enrolled, or who have recently graduated from the University of Calgary.   Candidates may apply once and will be considered for both positions.

i) One student will be selected to work at the Institut Supérieur de l'Automobile et des Transports, an engineering school located in Nevers, France. The ISAT is part of the Université de Bourgogne.  

ii) One student will be selected to work at the Université de Bourgogne in Dijon, in the Department of English, with several other anglophone Teaching Assistants.

Option 2 - Teaching Assistant (offered by the Embassy of France)

Each year the Embassy of France in Ottawa accepts applications from Canadians between the age of 20 and 30 for English language assistantship positions in French primary and secondary schools. This is a unique opportunity to work for 6 to 9 months in the French educational system and to:

  • spend several months in France with a monthly stipend

  • have a privileged insight into contemporary France
  • master the French language through linguistic immersion
  • gain valuable teaching experience

Applicants should:

  • be between the age of 20-30 years old

  • have completed at least two year of university studies

  • have strong oral and writign skills in French
  • have an excellent command of English
